Everyone who is a writer probably dreams of having that “magic” article that generates thousands of hits within its first few days, or, better yet, goes viral and receives hundreds of thousands or millions of visitors.

And because of our pay structure, this could be extremely beneficial to you financially.

And although, we’re sure that money may play a small role in you becoming a writer on this site and other sites like ours, you have to keep in mind with what’s really important and that is to just write popular quality articles.   The key word is quality.  If you churn out quality work after quality work, the hits will come, and the notoriety that comes along with that.

So let’s talk about trends…

Trends are what is popular in the here and now. Just because something is popular right now doesn’t mean it will remain popular. That being said, Google Trends is a great resource to use to write about what is currently “hot.”

Google Trends can be the most useful tool to pick the hottest news on the internet at an instant. The information on Google Trends can be categorized by days, time, countries, etc.

So, it is practically a sea of current information and the statistics that Google Trends delivers are always very helpful. You can tell in a glance about the popularity of a site and when the story started and when it went hot to cold.

So, for people who are stuck and are whining about not having topics to write, should cheer up as we are going to tell them exactly how they should use Google Trends to write great articles every time they are stuck with no topic to write about.

It’s because of current events.  At the time of this page updating (9/08/2014), Apple is about to release their iWatch and iPhone 6.  Destiny is a popular video game that just got released.  Kate and the Prince are about to have another baby.  Serena just won the U.S. Open.  And the Chargers just lost last night’s Monday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals.

If you look beside each hot item, you’ll also see how many searches has been done on the topic as well to give you an idea on the kind of traction that stories reporting on these topics might receive.

According to Google Trends, “With Hot Searches, you can see a snapshot of what’s on the public’s collective mind by viewing the fastest-rising searches for different points of time. You can see a list of today’s top 40 fastest-rising search queries in the U.S. You can also select a recent date in history to see what the top rising searches were and what the search activity looked like over the course of that day.
